Sara McLean

Counselling psychology practicum student

Clinical supervision: Dr. Samantha Goldwater-Adler

Sara supports adults and teens through supervised counselling with a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach. She aims to create a space where you can feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself.

Who she supports

Sara is particularly interested in supporting adults and teens navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, and identity-related concerns, including LGBTQIA+ experiences.

She welcomes the opportunity to get to know you as a whole person — what matters to you, what you have been carrying, what has shaped you, and what has helped you keep going.

Approach

Sara's counselling approach is person-centred and strengths-based, while also drawing from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused approaches, and DBT-informed strategies.

Sara believes the relationship you build together can be an important part of meaningful change. She works collaboratively with you to better understand what you are experiencing, build on your strengths, and work toward goals that feel meaningful to you.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. The first meetings provide an opportunity to understand what is bringing you in, explore what you would like to change, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
