Couples and Family Therapy in Montreal

Relationships can become strained even when the people involved care deeply about one another. Couples and family therapy can help you understand what is happening between you, work through recurring difficulties, and find more constructive ways of relating.

Are you looking for support as a couple?

Do the same tensions keep returning? Has communication become difficult, or do you feel increasingly disconnected? You may be struggling with conflict, trust, intimacy, a major transition, or patterns that neither of you seems able to change.

In couples therapy, we help you better understand what happens between you: how you communicate, respond to one another, and become caught in patterns that keep difficulties going. The work creates space for each partner’s experience while helping you develop different ways of communicating, responding, and moving forward together.

Would family therapy help?

Families can become caught in patterns of conflict, misunderstanding, distance, or tension that affect more than one person. Difficulties may arise around communication, changing roles, major life events, longstanding hurts, or differences in needs and expectations.

Family therapy provides a space to understand these patterns together. We help family members hear one another more clearly, make sense of what is happening between them, and work toward ways of relating that feel more manageable and constructive.

Family therapy may involve some or all members of a family, depending on the concerns being addressed and the clinician’s approach.

Are you looking for support related to a child or parenting?

If your main concern involves your child’s emotions or behaviour, parenting challenges, or the parent-child relationship, please visit our Children and parenting page, where we describe these services in more detail.

How can you choose the right support?

Couples therapy, family therapy, and parent-child work address different needs. Each clinician’s profile describes the services they offer, the people they work with, and their areas of practice to help you determine who may be a good fit.

These services are therapeutic and are not a substitute for family mediation or legal services.

Where can you start?

You can write to us with a few words about what is bringing you in and who you are hoping will participate. You do not need to provide a detailed account of the conflict or your family history in your first message. A little information is enough for us to help guide you toward an appropriate next step.
