Daniel Golfman
Counselling psychology practicum student
Clinical supervision: Dr. Samantha Goldwater-Adler
Daniel supports adolescents and adults through supervised counselling. His collaborative and practical approach helps you better understand what you are facing, clarify what you would like to change, and develop strategies that build on your strengths and fit your everyday life.
Who he supports
Daniel works with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, low self-esteem, and relationship or life challenges. He also has an interest in attention and executive-functioning difficulties, including those associated with ADHD, and in supporting people who have felt misunderstood in previous attempts to seek help.
Approach
Daniel’s counselling approach is collaborative and person-centred and incorporates strategies and principles drawn from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Together, you clarify your goals, better understand the thoughts, emotions, and patterns affecting you, and identify strategies that reflect your strengths, values, and circumstances.
The first meetings focus on understanding what is bringing you in and agreeing on a direction for the work. Between meetings, you may try strategies or reflect on your experiences and then discuss what you notice with Daniel.
Background
Daniel is completing a master’s degree in counselling psychology at Yorkville University and practises under the clinical supervision of Dr. Samantha Goldwater-Adler. You meet with Daniel directly, while his clinical work is regularly reviewed with his supervisor.
He also holds an honours commerce degree from the University of Ottawa. His background in human resources, community organizations, and youth mentoring contributes to his understanding of work, relationship, and life challenges.
